They provide an extremely strong joint when used correctly. They are commonly used with Furniture Connector Bolts, Hanger Bolts (wood to Metal Dowels) and other components with a matching thread.

There are also many types of threaded Inserts including Screw-In (threaded both internally and externally), Knock-In and Expansion. They also come with and without Heads (Collars).
